Followers of my blog will remember I photographed my good friend Liz’s bump throughout her pregnancy. Well, on the 27th January 2010, the beautiful Florence was born.

Just a sneak peek today, but I’ll update with some more photos soon. Here’s Flo at 4 weeks old:

Congratulations to Liz and Lee, she’s such a cutie xx

4th December 2009 – 32 weeks and counting

Written on December 4, 2009 – 11:29 am | by BryonyParkes |

So who wants to see the latest bump pictures that I took from Monday, of my lovely friend Liz? Can you believe she’s 32 weeks already? The first images I took were when she was a mere 16 weeks and now she only has 8 weeks to go. I don’t think she’ll make it until 40 weeks, do you?

I was very grateful for an opportunity to do a proper shoot this time, rather than the fairly rushed comparison shots (I even got out my studio lights; get me!). She’s got a super bump:

and how about this for a little bit of colour? Might not be to everyone’s taste and I know the bump itself is a little too overexposed, but you know me. I like to try different things:

Although I love the expression the above image gives, plus that Liz herself is fully in shot, but I think I prefer the tones on this cropped version:

I think I might try and squeeze one more shot in with Liz before baby is born. And I’ll try some different poses, and different angles as well. That’s if, Liz is up for it :-)

24th September 2009 – Bump Baby Beautiful

Written on September 24, 2009 – 7:46 pm | by BryonyParkes |

As I went to my friend Liz’s place last night for a cuppa and a chat, I took a couple of shots to add to our collection of photographs recording the progress of her baby bump. She is 22 weeks now and she had a scan today which confirmed that all is well! We had a good giggle for ten minutes while we tried various poses so I thought I’d share what we came up with.

My favourite, despite the focus not being quite right, is this one:

I like how it looks like we’re looking in on a tender moment between mother and unborn child.

It was smashing to use the flash gun in Liz’s flat, as she has a very modern flat with cream square rooms which bounced the light off beautifully and helped me avoid any shadows. It’s a great place to do indoor shoots.

For reference, if you read my last post about Liz’s bump, here are shots that I took yesterday to mimic the shots I took last time with the same lighting conditions, for progress marking:

Liz’s baby is due in January 2010 and I am very excited. I will be doing a proper bump shoot with her sometime soon as she approaches 30 weeks, so check back again for those!

Photos taken at 1/100 and f/5.6 (flash gun used) – top four photographs. 1/50 and f/2.0 – bottom two photographs.

8th September 2009 – Baby Bump progress!

Written on September 8, 2009 – 9:09 pm | by BryonyParkes |

One of my closest friends Liz, is pregnant, exciting times! She asked me if I would help her record her bump progress and as I’m never going to decline an opportunity for a project I happily accepted.

I first took some shots when she started to get a “visible through the clothes” bump at 16 weeks and I plan to take a shot in the same position every 4 weeks or so. We also plan a proper bump shoot at 20 weeks and 30 weeks with some bright and inventive shots so that she and her lovely fiancé Lee have a memento of this special time in their lives.

The very first shot (at 16 weeks on 10th August 2009) was hastily taken so the lighting was poor but I was quite pleased with the different take, processing wise that I took on it. The subsequent shot that I took (at 20 weeks on 7th September 2009) was with my D90, and even though I managed the low light better, I still tried to get it similar to the first one so we can compare and I will continue to do this every 4 weeks.

16 weeks:

20 weeks:

Watch this space over the next week for the blog post with the shots from the bump shoot as well as further progress bump shots in the same setting as above. Liz and Lee are such a lovely couple and absolutely gorgeous so I am very excited!

Photos taken at 1/30 and f/2.0 (16 weeks) and 1/100 and f/2.0 (20 weeks and much sharper as a result of the faster shutterspeed don’t you think?)
